Work is going quite well. Getting lots of work done and keeping myself busy, which is always a good thing. I worked 47 hours last week which means I've got a nice paycheck coming my way.
Friday we got dinner at Champp's. We being me, Sarah, Angela, Josh, and Mamie. Then Sarah and I watched Minority Report. Saturday I gave my car a much needed wash and then drove it to Greensboro to visit my parents for the day. I also picked up a new air filter for my car. Somehow I've put 29,000 miles on it since I bought it last March! It only had 3 miles on the odometer when I bought it. =) Anyway, Sunday we had lunch at big bowl and later that evening we hung out and ate some pizza. What does all of this mean? It means I eat out way too much and need to start cooking/preparing my own food more!
Uhh, yeah... I just added it up. I spent $170 last month at restaurants, not including the IBM cafeteria. Not good.
So it's been a week since I updated, go figure.
I'll be getting the formal offer for my summer job at IBM this week and my pay should be the same. My goal is to save up enough money to pay for a full year of school so I can graduate for once. Right now we're finishing up the 4th week of a 12-week project. We have yet to write any code! It looks like we'll finally be starting that next week. Overtime, here I come! Up to this point we've mostly been getting familiar with the project, defining our goals, and figuring out how we'll be implementing the solution.
A couple days ago, Neesha e-mailed me out of the blue and asked if I wanted to hang out. So we ended up getting dinner at El Rodeo and watching some TV at my place. This past Saturday I had dinner with Christina at Big Bowl. We had to wait a couple hours so we sorta shopped around. Sunday a bunch of us had lunch at Bear Rock, and then Sarah came over and watched Life is Beautiful with me! Then Sarah, Dan, and I had dinner at Japan Express. Nothing beats good conversation with a couple of my favorite friends! =) Overall nothing overly exciting this past weekend, but as we all know that's nothing I need to be happy. We'll see what this coming weekend has to offer...
So I mentioned to some people at work that I was looking for a summer job, preferably in another IBM department. (my current job ends in mid-April) Well, one of my co-workers sent my resume around internally and someone got in touch with me. I basically scheduled an interview with them. Just walked to the building next door during lunch on Wednesday and spent about an hour talking with two people in their department. I felt pretty good about it when I left, and went to the IBM cafeteria to grab some lunch to eat at my desk. When I got back, the manager I had just talked to sent me an IM-like message telling me she wanted me to work with them! That was a fast response. =) I told her I'd like to think about it but will most likely accept. At this point, the HR people still have to formally extend an offer to me. But it's nice to know that I now have a job through August! I'm glad that I'll be in Chapel Hill for a while longer, I like it here. =)
This weekend started off quite well with what I guess you'd call a date with Sarah. =) We went out to get some chinese food. We sat, ate, and talked for probably two hours. Then we went to her apartment and watched a movie. I think it was called the Thirteenth Floor. It was okay. Igor scratched me, but I deserved it. Anyway, we talked a lot and had a good time! Saturday was mostly uneventful for me until a few of us got together for dinner at Applebee's. We were cramped at a small table but we managed. Sunday we went to a Super Bowl party where we had some great chili. Dan and I left early, but I watched the end of the game at home... exciting. And of course I spent all day at work on Monday. Oh yeah, I got my first IBM paycheck too! It's nice to see the negative trend in my bank account come to an end. Let's see if this (boring) blog thing increases the hits to my site. =)
