It finally hit me...

I am now a resident of beautiful Middletown, CT. I left Chapel Hill really, really early this morning at 2:15am, after just a little bit of sleep. Dan, Paul, and Cara were still awake to see me off. We said our goodbyes without tears. Somehow I got to CT crazy fast... the whole trip only took me 8.5 hours! That's gotta be some kinda record. I only stopped once to get gas and go through a McDonald's drive-thru for a sausage biscuit. I stopped by the leasing office and after 5 minutes and over $1k I had my keys. I took a few minutes to gaze about my new apartment. It's very large for a one bedroom place. The walls are painted a nice beige. The appliances are pretty old but they work fine so far. The A/C is very loud but sure puts out a lot of cold air. The views from my many windows are very nice... lots of trees. Overall I'm very happy with my new place.

So I went out for lunch and did some shopping. I have a TON of stuff to buy. This apartment is bare. After getting back from shopping it finally, finally hit me. This is my new home. I'm not visiting. I won't be going back to NC for months. It hit hard, too. I broke down. I hadn't cried in a long time, and this was not just a tear down the cheek. Don't get me wrong... I've already fallen in love with CT in many ways. I just hate that I had to leave behind all the people I love to come here. I was very happy in Chapel Hill.

But don't worry... I'll be fine! It's just hard to make such a drastic change. Work starts on Wednesday so that'll keep me busy and around new people -- both good things.

Perhaps tomorrow I'll take some pictures and post them for you guys! :-D It really is pretty around here.
